My Bentley Story by Ovide Flannery

I BELIEVE IT WAS IN 1964 THAT BENTLEY BECAME A COLLEGE AND WAS AUTHORIZED TO GRANT DEGREES. WELL, DURING THE WINTER OF 1965, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM BENTLEY COLLEGE WHICH INDICATED THAT THOSE ALUMNI WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY GRADUATED AND RECEIVED A "DIPLOMA" (NO DEGREES PRIOR TO 1964) AND WHO HAD  SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED COURSES AT OTHER INSTITUTIONS, COULD SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT OF THEIR GRADES TO BENTLEY COLLEGE ALONG WITH A CHECK FOR $25 AND IN RETURN THEY WOULD BEGRANTED AN   "ASSOCIATE IN  SCIENCE OF ACCOUNTING".

I TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE OFFER AND SUBMITTED A TRANSCRIPT  OF MY GRADES FROM SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY WHERE I HAD ALREADY RECEIVED MY B.S.B.A. IN '61 AND AN M.S.B.A. IN '64. I WAS LISTED  IN THE PROGRAM OF THE FORTY-SIXTH ANNUAL COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES WHICH WERE HELD ON SUNDAY JUNE 6TH 1965 AT THE BACK BAY THEATRE.  I NEVER ATTENDED  A CLASS OR THE GRADUATION.  I RECEIVED THE  DEGREE SHORTLY AFTER GRADUATION EXERCISES, BY U.S. MAIL.

WHEN I LIST MY SCHOOLS AND DEGREES, I'M CAREFUL NOT TO RECORD A  THE  YEAR OF GRADUATION AFTER THE ASSOCIATES DEGREE ('65)  WHEN I HAD ALREADY RECEIVED A M.S.B.A. IN '64. THEREBY AVOIDING MANY QUESTIONS AS TO WHY I WANTED AN ASSOCIATES AFTER A MASTERS. MANY BENTLEY ALUMNI TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME OFFER.
