Alumnus/a, Cole Bay, St. Maarten
I started as a freshman from Puerto Rico on financial aid in 1984 and graduated with a major in Accounting in 1988. I was recruited by KPMG Puerto Rico in November 1987 and given a contract to start upon graduation. Since I was on financial aid a portion of sustaining myself was the work study program. I started working at the "lower cafe" for Marriott food service as a dishwasher. By the second semester I was promoted to assistant student manager. During my Junior and Senior years I was the head student manager. Since I was an Accounting major I never thought how my experience working at the cafeteria would ever influence my future professional plans. After working at KPMG for 3 years I became the CFO of various properties in St. Maarten of the world renowned Cap Juluca and Cuisinart Resorts. The experience that I acquired working for Marriott food services was very helpful during my years as CFO of Caribbean Resorts. Over the past 6 years I have been the General Manager of Oyster Bay Beach Resort in St. Maarten and my Bentley experience was key to my day to day success both in and out of the classroom. In addition I am still in close contact with my roommates and many other friends that were generated at Bentley.
