University Distinguished Professor Robert D. Galliers joined Bentley in July 2002; he served as provost and vice president for academic affairs until July 2009. Previously Professor of Information Systems and Research Director in the Department of Information Systems at the London School of Economics, he retains his connection with the LSE as a Visiting Professor. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Australian School of Business, University of New South Wales, and the Brunel Business School, Brunel University, UK. Before joining LSE, Galliers served as Lucas Professor of Business Management Systems and Dean of Warwick Business School in the United Kingdom, and earlier as Foundation Professor and Head of the School of Information Systems at Curtin University in Australia. Galliers holds an AB (honors) in Economics from Harvard University, as well as a Master's with distinction in Management Systems from Lancaster University, a PhD in Information Systems from the London School of Economics and an Honorary Doctor of Science degree awarded by the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration in Finland in 1995. A leader in the field of management information systems, Galliers has published widely in many of the leading international journals on information systems and has authored or co-authored a number of books, including Exploring Information Systems Research Approaches: Readings and Reflections (Routledge, 2007), the third edition of the best seller, Strategic Information Management (Butterworth-Heinemann, 2003), Rethinking Management Information Systems (Oxford University Press, 1999) and IT and Organizational Transformation (Wiley, 1998). He is also the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, and a fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS), the Association for Information Systems (FAIS) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). During his time at Bentley, Galliers has guided the institution's leadership in business and IT, helping Bentley to attain national and international recognition in business education. His quarterly newsletter, The Bentley Agenda, showcases our faculty's research and scholarship. Galliers's own research is transdisciplinary in nature, focusing primarily on IT and business innovation/ transformation and the management of change; information systems strategy; strategy alignment; knowledge management, and intra- and extra-organizational impacts of the Internet.
