Scholarly Work in Progress:
Designing and Building Thriving Systems.
We describe 15 choice properties that we believe help ensure that a software system thrives. We examine how considering these choice properties might affect the software engineering process, focusing on innovations and transformations in Apache's design. For more, please see http://cis.bentley.edu/dyates/Research/FromCPS_ToCPS_Apache.pdf.

Explaining the Global Digital Divide: The Impact of Public Policy Initiatives on E-Government Access and Reach Worldwide.

On the Tradeoff between Data Quality and Energy Expended for Sensor Network Applications.
The research explores the impact of several design choices in wireless sensor networks on the data quality and energy expended for sensor network applications: Network load, link layer and routing algorithms, alternative sensor data sink configurations, and alternative wireless channel configurations.

Scaleable Content Delivery for Networked Servers.
This research investigates scaling content delivery to content consumers using distributed servers. In such a system content servers can become overloaded. We explore a novel technique, Demand-driven Load Diffusion (DDLD), which distributes load among neighboring cache or origin servers.
