Current Events - John W. Hinckley Jr. found not guilty of shooting Reagan due to Insanity; Equal Rights Amendment fails ratification; “Cats” opens on Broadway — Becomes longest running Broadway Play.
Music - “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, “Eye Of the Tiger” by Survivor; Best Song of the Year: “Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes; Best New Artist: Sheena Easton; Michael Jackson releases ”Thriller”, which sells more than 25 million copies to become the biggest selling album in history.
