BERNARDSTON, Mass. -- Led by senior Brian Jasset (Norwood/Norwood HS), Bentley University finished fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference Golf Championships, which concluded Monday at the Crumpin-Fox Golf Club.
Bentley had a 316 team score during Monday's second round, improving on Sunday's action by eight strokes, and finished the tournament at 640. Adelphi University, competing in its first conference championship after entering the NE-10 on July 1, captured the team title with a score of 620, winning by three strokes over American International. Also finishing in front of the Falcons were Southern New Hampshire (632) and Le Moyne College (634).
Jasset earned second-team All-Conference honors by tying for sixth place. He shot a four-over 76 for the second round and finished the tournament at 154, missing a top-five finish by just one stroke. It's the third time in his career he's qualified for the All-Northeast-10 team, having been on the first team in 2007 and the second team in 2006.
Bentley's next two golfers both improved on their day one standing by at least 10 places. Junior Alex Macielak (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs HS) tied for 21st at 161, and sophomore Grant Alter (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) tied for 35th at 165. Over the final 18, Macielak had a 78, and Alter a 79.
Bentley will be back in action on Friday with the Rhode Island College Invitational.
