WALTHAM, Mass. - Senior Michael Nikiforov (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) of the Bentley University men's soccer team has been named the Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Nikiforov was the winning goalie in Bentley's biggest victory of the season last Wednesday. He made three saves as the Falcons qualified for the NE-10 playoffs for the second straight season by defeating Saint Anselm 1-0 in overtime. The shutout was Nikiforov's fifth of the season.
Though Bentley's season came to an end with Sunday's loss to Le Moyne in the quarterfinals, Nikiforov made four saves and limited the 20th ranked team in Division II to just one goal.
It's the first time this season Nikiforov has been named Goalkeeper of the Week and the second time in his career.
The Falcons finished the season with an overall record of 6-10-2 and a 6-5-2 record in the NE-10, tying for sixth place.
