WALTHAM, Mass. -- Bentley University, which captured the Northeast-10 Conference playoff championship on Sunday and received its sixth consecutive NCAA Division II tournament berth Monday, is ranked number four in the final Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Coaches Poll of the season.
It was a jump of two places for the Falcons, who had been sixth or seventh for most of the season.
Bloomsburg, 20-1, topped the poll, receiving all 14 first-place votes for a total of 140 points. Shippensburg (19-2) was second with 125 and Stonehill, the regular season champion in the NE-10, was third with 105. Bentley's point total was 92.
Bentley, 16-4 overall and 15-2 since Sept. 5, will host fifth-ranked UMass-Lowell on Saturday afternoon (1 pm) in the first round of the NCAA Division II Championships.
