WALTHAM, Mass. -- Bentley University senior libero Cassie Kraft (New Braunfels, Texas/St. Mary's Hall) has been chosen for the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 1 women's volleyball third team (college division) by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Division II and III volleyball players from throughout New England and New York were eligible for selection.
Kraft, a marketing major who has a 3.46 grade point average, has been the Falcons' libero since her arrival on campus in 2006. She is number two in school history in digs and will enter this weekend's action needing only 26 digs to reach 2,000 for her career. This season, Kraft is averaging 4.10 digs, and depending on the length of the team's postseason run, could reach 500 for the fourth consecutive year.
Kraft was the 2008 Libero of the Year in the Northeast-10, and has twice been selected to the All-Northeast-10 second team. She has also earned Academic All-Northeast-10 honors twice in her career.
Bentley, 14-11 overall and 9-4 in the Northeast-10 (fourth place), will wrap up the regular season with matches at Saint Rose Friday night and Le Moyne Saturday afternoon.
