Ouellette Leads Way as Bentley Swims Past UMass-Dartmouth, 164-131

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Led by junior Egen Ouellette (West Hartford, Conn./Conard HS), the Bentley University men's swimming team won nine of the first 12 events and went on to defeat UMass-Dartmouth, 164-131, Saturday afternoon at the UMD pool.

Ouellette was the only Falcon to take a pair of individual events, capturing the 100 yard butterfly in 56.19 and the 500 freestyle in 5:11.25.

In addition, he helped Bentley win 200 medley relay team by five-and-a-half seconds, combining with sophomore Joe Frantel (Canandaigua, N.Y./Marcus Whitman HS) and seniors Sam Laden (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and Willie Connolly (Washington, Conn./Shepaug Valley HS) for a time of 1:41.33. Laden was also first in the 100 breaststroke, posting a 1:03.45, and Connolly won the 400 individual medley in 4:36.20.

Freshman Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) went the distance in the 1000 free, winning in 10:44.77, and the other three Bentley winners were all sophomores. They are Patrick Ryan (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury HS) in the 50 back (27.10), Matt Wessels (Epsom, N.H./Bishop Brady HS) in the 100 free (52.38) and Dave Curran (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) in the 100 back (59.84).

Bentley, 2-2, will be back in its home pool Dec. 5-6 for the Northeast-10 Invitational.
