WALTHAM, Mass. -- Following an overtime loss to Caldwell College on Sunday in the UMass-Lowell Valley Cup Classic, the Bentley University women's basketball team will look to get back on the winning track Tuesday night when it visits Saint Anselm College. Starting time at Stoutenburgh Gym is 5:30 pm.
It'll be the fourth game in seven days for the Falcons, all away from Waltham. Coach Barbara Stevens' team began that stretch with a 71-62 win at Merrimack in its Northeast-10 opener, and pushed the record to 3-0 with a 70-55 win over Bloomfield Saturday.
Through the first four games, most of the Bentley offense has flowed through sophomore Katherine Goodwin (Goffstown, N.H./Governors Academy) and juniors Elise Caira (Wakefield/Arlington Catholic HS) and Kim Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley HS).
Goodwin leads the team at 15.8 ppg, a half-point more a game than Caira. Brennan follows at 13.5, and her six assists a game ranks second in the conference.
Saint Anselm enters Tuesday's meeting at 1-2 overall under first-year head coach DeAnn Craft. The Hawks have played solid defense in the three contests, allowing only 48.3 points and holding the opposition to a .338 field goal percentage.
Sophomore guard Epiphany Smith, who played for Craft last year at Texas-Pan American, is the Hawks' top scorer, averaging 13.7 points. Forward Megan Howard, also a sophomore, averaged a double-double last season and is currently producing 10 points and 6.7 rebounds a game.
Bentley has won 10 straight in the series, including a 77-45 decision last year in Waltham.
The Falcons will be back at home on Sunday, taking on Southern New Hampshire at 1:30 pm.
