Tulley Helps Falcons to Second in Bentley Invitational

WALTHAM, Mass. - Led by junior Brianne Tulley (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS), the Bentley women's swim team finished second amongst nine teams in the Bentley Invitational Sunday at the Dana Center pool.

Bentley was just edged out by Southern Connecticut State, with its score of 140 points three shy of the Owls' total. Saint Rose was a distant third with 56 points.

Tulley provided Bentley's only individual victory, capturing the 100 yard freestyle in 56.96 seconds. In addition, she was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:38.38) and helped the Falcons to a second in the 400 medley relay (4:18.77).

Joining her on the relay were sophomore Arden Brust (Newark, N.Y./Newark HS), freshman Kristen Theurk (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and sophomore Liza Connolly (Washington, Conn./ Shepaug Valley HS). Brust also had two individual second-place finishes, in the 200 free (2:02.90) and 200 backstroke (2:17.14).

In the one-meter diving, junior Tezzy Bergantz (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) and senior Katrina Kaufman (Belmont/Belmont HS) finished second and third, respectively, with scores of 219.85 and 218.40. They reversed those finishes on the three-meter board, with Kaufman posting a score of 200.65, ten points higher than Bergantz.

Also recording thirds for Bentley were junior Amanda Albertian (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and freshman Alexa Waldron (Hewitt, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy). Albertian's third came in the 200 back (2:20.42), and Waldron achieved it in the 500 free (5:40.09).

Bridgeport's Alexandra Byczynska captured three events, winning the 50 free (25.98), the 200 back (2:13.82) and the 200 IM (2:14.35).

The next action for Bentley is Nov. 30 at UMass-Dartmouth.
