What to do immediately after an assault (within the last five days):
- Get to a safe place and find help
- Call University Police (781.891.3131) if you are unsafe or injured.
- You do not have to do this alone. Contact someone—a friend, family member, or a campus professional.
- Seek medical assistance as soon as possible for treatment of injuries and information on prevention of potential pregnancy and/or sexually transmitted diseases.
- It is recommended that you do not change your clothes, bathe, shower or douche before seeking medical care if you wish to have evidence collected.
- You have the option to report this incident to University Police or the local authorities. Consider recording in writing as much as you can remember.
- Know that whatever feelings or reactions you are having are normal. See our recovery page for information on common issues faced by survivors and how recovery is possible.
- For additional support, counseling resources are available. Survivors experience a wide range of normal feelings and concerns following a rape or assault. Talking about them, especially with a professional, can help.
