Inside Bentley@Work, our newly launched job-search e-source you will find:

CAREER CHANGE

Focus Your Career Series
Many alumni consider changing their career but are unclear about the position, company, and industry in which they will be most successful.  This course uses directed exercises to identify the parameters of your “ideal job.” Completing the ideal job parameters exercises qualifies you to participate in a Career Brainstorming Session with key faculty and career staff who will help you target specific positions, companies, and industries.

The course meets one evening a week for five weeks. Courses begin in September, November, February, April, and June and are free of charge for Bentley Alumni.  You can attend on campus or virtually.

CareerLeader™ is a recognized industry-leading business career self-assessment tool, used by over 200 top business schools to assist their undergraduate and/or graduate students and alumni discover their career interests, motives, and abilities. After completing the self-assessments and exploring the resulting recommended career paths, you can schedule an appointment to meet the Alumni Career Adviser to incorporate these results into your career strategy and action plan.

JOB SEARCH 

Job Search Skills Workshop
This highly interactive course is designed to provide you with the skills you need to conduct an effective job search. The course focuses on self-assessment, job targeting and research, networking, personal marketing, job-search correspondence, behavioral interviewing, and negotiating.

ON-LINE TOOLS

ImageBuilder

Personal marketing is a key skill for a job search or career advancement. ImageBuilder™, a product of Career Advancement Systems, trains job hunters to assess, package, and sell themselves. You complete step-by-step modules that help you develop communications materials necessary for a successful job search. These include a personal webpage, resume, career objective, value proposition, cover letters, and a biosketch. ImageBuilder™ also includes guidance on job search strategy, interview preparation, networking, and compensation.

If you are looking for a job, you will want to check out the Bentley Alumni website.  Under the "Career Resources" tab you will find hundreds of jobs posted for Bentley alumni. In addition, you can post your resume for review by potential employers who are seeking qualified candidates.

This comprehensive program begins with self-assessment and runs through interviewing and negotiations and teaches skills that will be useful throughout your career. Practice Interview Nights

It is important for graduate students to develop their interview skills in preparation for the recruiting season. Practice interviews with alumni are the best way for them to develop these skills.

Professional Profile Coaching

The Professional Profile Program is a comprehensive training program that teaches alumni how to develop a Professional Profile and how to provide coaching to a graduate student. It is a win-win situation for everyone!  Alumni learn a powerful new personal marketing method and coaching skills and students learn how to market themselves effectively in their job search.

It is important for graduate students launching their careers to learn about different career paths. These casual lunch discussions provide students with the opportunity to gain industry and job specific advice from industry professionals so that they can develop effective strategies for entering and succeeding in their career.
