Why participate in the Bentley University Internship Program?
Bentley's Internship Program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to work full-time or part-time in a career-related work experience as they earn their undergraduate or graduate degrees. In return, employers gain the services of motivated and enthusiastic temporary employees who are committed to helping meet short-term goals.
What are the advantages to employers?
- Internship students can handle assignments that may be difficult for untrained personnel, but do not require the talents of full time professionals
- The program gives employers the chance to judge the actual on-the-job performance of potential permanent employees.
- Retention rates for permanent employees recruited through an internship program are higher than for those hired through other means.
What are the timelines for employers?
There are three time periods each year for internship students:
| Fall placement |
Recruit (April - September) |
Work (September - December) |
| Spring placement |

Students in good academic standing are eligible for an internship after their first semester as a junior and may elect to participate in either the non-credit or academic internship program.
What are the employer's obligations?
Employers are asked to provide a learning environment for students commensurate with their academic preparation and previous experience. At the end of an internship assignment, the supervisor of the student is asked to complete a performance evaluation for the student.
How are students selected?
Interested students register with the Center for Career Services each semester that they wish to do an internship. The student decides whether to do a non-credit internship or an academic internship.
