FalconNet
What is FalconNet?
One of the first of its kind in the nation, FalconNet is a career networking site that enables you to leverage the professional knowledge and experience of your fellow students and alumni.
How do I register?
Go to www.bentley.edu/FalconNet/register. It takes just minutes to fill out a short profile and get connected to the latest technology in career building for university students. Be a part of the FalconNet community and realize the power of networking.
How does FalconNet work?
There are countless ways you can use the system. For example, you can:
- Build professional relationships with fellow students and alumni that can help you “get your foot in the door” at top-tier organizations in your specific field of interest
- Get the real scoop on what internships and full-time jobs are like at organizations across the country and throughout the world
- Be better prepared for interviews by learning the types of questions companies ask in a first, second or final round of interviews
- Join professional discussion groups with students and alumni on a wide range of topics from majors/minors to salary negotiations
- Access links to popular career web sites
- Learn of upcoming career events via the Calendar of Events
What type of information is stored by default?
By default, you will see your name, address, major and expected graduation date populated from Banner. You will need to UNHIDE this information for others to search for you via these fields.
What type of information can I add on my own?
You will be able to add additional degree, license and certification information; desired industries and functions that you want to work in; previous employment or internship information including company name, title, city and state; community leadership and professional organization information; Bentley student organization, intramural and varsity sport participation.
How does the Networking component work?
- You can invite fellow students or alumni to join your network and communicate with them by sending e-mail messages.
- Simply: Search for fellow people in the Directory.
- Invite people into your network. All profiles include an "Invite to Your Network" link. Simply click on that link and the person will receive a personalized e-mail from you, inviting them to register for the community and become part of your network.
Start connecting. Send e-mail messages and invite your friends and continue expanding your network.
Can I use FalconNet to network with alumni on topics such as career advice and internship openings?
Absolutely. If alumni “opt in” to share their career experiences, you can e-mail them directly using FalconNet. But don’t forget, student-to-student networking can be just as powerful! Thousands of our current students (both graduate and undergraduate) have participated or are currently participating in internships and can provide you with such invaluable information as key recruiting contacts, what to expect in the interview, and what it is like on the job.
How do discussion groups work?
A discussion group is an electronic message board where you can post a message (via e-mail or online). Other members of the discussion group can reply to your message with comments or suggestions. You can receive e-mail updates or log in to the community to view a discussion board posting.
How does FalconNet differ from MySpace and other
networking sites?
MySpace is a social networking site that is open to public view. FalconNet is exclusively for the use of career networking among Bentley students and alumni.
