Healthcare and the Ethics of Building Healthy Communities

Bentley University's Center for Business Ethics presents the 21st Raytheon Lecture in Business Ethics

In this period of great change in the US healthcare sector, Bon Secours Health System, Inc. (BSHSI) has thrived due to its ethical commitments that have significantly enhanced the company’s operating performance in a highly competitive business environment. The recent passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the most significant change to the US healthcare system in almost 50 years and signals the need for systemic reform. Given BSHSI’s long-standing dedication to building healthy communities, the company embraces the ACA’s guiding principles of improving care, advancing population health, and reducing cost. Rich Statuto, President and CEO, will discuss how BSHSI’s ethical commitments as healthcare provider, employer and corporate citizen have all contributed to the company’s successful efforts to deliver on its mission to provide “Good Help to Those in Need.”
