Gender Issues in Business Schools: The Elephant in the Room
Pat Flynn, Trustee Professor of Economics and Management

Event for: Bentley Community
Lindsay 28
Wednesday, April 5 - 2:00PM to 3:30PM

Business schools can and should help mitigate the underrepresentation of women in management and leadership positions in the corporate world.  Unfortunately, they often are part of the problem rather than the solution. Significant gender gaps continue to exist within business schools, including at the levels of dean, academic department chair, full professor, and tenured faculty. Moreover, in the United States while more females are pursuing higher education, fewer of them are choosing undergraduate and graduate business degrees. In terms of MBAs, the number and share of female graduates is on the decline both within and outside the United States.

Professor Flynn will discuss these and related trends and provide recommendations for raising the profile of gender issues and improving gender equality in business schools.
