We use innovative leadership with a proven track record of success in the global business environment. The Corporate Immersion Institute is led by Executive-in-Residence Woody Benson '80 and Senior Marketing Lecturer Perry Lowe. Between them, the pair boast more than 80 years of experience in advising and guiding companies.
Woody Benson '80
Called "a business partner and fellow executive who is helping to build a winning company" by Maven Networks CEO Hilmi Ozguc, Woody Benson '80 will serve as the Corporate Immersion Institute's executive-in-residence, working closely with institute founder Perry Lowe to lead the Bentley community's efforts to transform innovative startup companies’ ideas into reality. Named one of the top 100 venture capitalists of 2009, Benson currently acts as a managing partner at Prism VentureWorks in Needham, Mass.
Benson began his post-Bentley life in computer sales before moving onto managing channels and creating the original equipment manufacturing (OEM) division for Lotus Development. He went on to run the sales and marketing operation for Shiva Corporation before being named CEO of MCK Communications, where he was named Massachusetts CEO of the Year.
Benson eventually dove into the world of venture capitalism at Lazard & Prism, where he focused on investing in communications, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and digital media firms. During his venture capital career, Benson has been involved in the initial public offerings of Shiva Corporation, MCK Communications, Elastic Networks, and LogMeIn. His career merger and acquisition highlights includes sales of firms to Cisco Maven Networks, Yahoo!, ComScore, and KITDigital.
SENIOR LECTURER, MARKETING
Believing that the best way for students to learn was to engage in real-world business challenges, Senior Lecturer Perry Lowe launched Bentley's Corporate Immersion classes more than 20 years ago. Lowe and his students -- both at the undergraduate and graduate levels -- have worked closely with companies to solve real-world business problems.
Over the years, Lowe and his students have helped many organizations, including Microsoft, Fidelity Investments, LogMeIn, KickApps, General Motors, Dunkin' Donuts, Napster, Welch's, HP, Sony, Groove, Mazda, SocialVibe, and Sperry Top-Sider, among others.
Prior to Bentley, Lowe was a product manager at General Foods and at Gillette, and also worked as director of marketing for Estee Lauder Cosmetics. His entrepreneurial interests include co-founding Cinema Centers Corporation and Theater Management Services, as well as the Lowe Group of Companies, focusing on broadcasting, hospitality and real estate.
