Information for Faculty and Staff
Welcome to the CSD Faculty and Staff Information Page. This page summarizes CSD's services for faculty and staff and is designed to help you find the resources you need. Our services include:
Consultation about Students of Concern
Faculty and staff members often become concerned about a particular student. If you are worried about someone, CSD staff members are available for consultation. Call CSD at 781.891.2274 and ask to speak with a psychologist or clinician about a student in distress. If a referral to CSD is warranted, we can help you identify ways to make a referral for the student. You may also walk the student to our walk in hours, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. weekdays. If you feel there is an emergency, please contact campus police. There are also several brochures and website pages you mind helpful, including:
Common Mental Health Issues for College Students (Coming Soon)
Workshops and Presentations
CSD provides frequent workshops and presentations to Bentley faculty, staff, and students. We provide outreach directly to students in residence halls or through student groups, training for student leaders, as well as workshops for faculty and staff who work directly with students. A list of common topics and information on how to schedule a workshop or presentation are located on the Workshops and Presentations page.
Class Lectures
CSD staff are available to provide a guest lecture in your course. Before you cancel class if you have to be away, consider having a CSD staff member provide a lecture on a topic related to your course. Previous lectures have focused on gender issues and/or mental health as they relate to your class topic. We will work with you to identify connections between course content and student mental health, providing a new perspective for students.
Using Universal Design
If you are struggling to reach students of various learning styles in the classroom, there is something you can do about it. A growing trend in college curriculum is the use of Universal Design in syllabus construction to help students of all learning styles get the most out of their education. The Coordinator of Disability Services is available to work individually with faculty or provide group workshops on how to integrate Universal Design into existing and new syllabi. For more information on Disability Services, please visit the Disability Services page or contact the Coordinator of Disability Services Stephanie Brodeur at 781.891.2274.
