Cybercrime Legislation
Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986
This is a text version of the exact law that was passed by Congress in 1986 from the Cornell University of Law web site.

Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 - Ammendments
This version contains ammendments of 1994 and 1996, which expanded the 1986 Act to address new technology developments such as the transmission of viruses and other harmful code.

Cyberterrorism Preparedness Act of 2002
"The Cyberterrorism Preparedness Act would bring together government, academic and private sector experts to promote the best computer security methods, such as strengthened password protections and high-tech tools to block destructive worms. Continually updated, the measures initially would apply to federal departments and agencies. The safeguards later could apply to federal contractors and grant recipients, and eventually serve as models for the nation."

Cybersecurity Research and Education Act of 2002
"The purpose of this Act is to train a new workforce to protect America from cyberterrorist threats. The bill also would encourage researchers to share their knowledge on an Internet information clearinghouse. Introduction of the legislation was prompted by a number of incidents highlighting the vulnerability of computer systems. For instance, a group called Gforce Pakistan last fall commandeered the Defense Department's web pages to declare a "cyberjihad" against America."

National Information Infrastructure Protection Act of 1996
"The focus of this Act is on the substantive amendments on the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act to specifically address new abuses that spring from the misuse of new technologies."
