This presentation outlines the evolution of basic and applied research on the use of information technology by older adults since the 1980’s, the myths that have been associated with the use of information technology by older adults over time, and the revolution in the adaptation of information technology by the elderly since the turn of the century. The presentation culminates with a description of the development and launch of the www.NIHSeniorHealth.gov web site – a model web site that is designed to mediate age-related changes in vision, cognition, and motor skills.
