Excellence in Scholarship

Gesa Kirsch, PhD, from the Department of English and Media Studies, won the 2013 Bentley University Award for Excellence in Scholarship.

Professor Kirsch is an eminent scholar in rhetoric and writing studies with an active and distinguished research record.  She has made, and continues to make, a substantial impact in her field as a leading scholar. Professor Kirsch has authored, co-authored and co-edited eight books with major university presses and published more than thirty journal articles and book chapters. Her work has a strong interdisciplinary readership and is required reading in many doctoral programs across the country. Her original research and thought leadership has resulted in numerous awards in her field. She has given more than 25 national and international invited lectures, key-notes and seminars.

A colleague at another university notes, Professor Kirsch has an international reputation for her wide-ranging research in feminist composition studies, and a distinguished history of groundbreaking publications as well as national professional leadership.

Therefore, in recognition of her contributions to both Bentley and her field of research, we are pleased to award Gesa Kirsch the 2013 Excellence in Scholarship Award.
