Deborah S. Bosley, Ph.D., is the Principal in The Plain Language Group and a professor of English at UNC Charlotte. She has spent the past 20 years teaching technical writing to undergraduates and graduate students. As a long-time believer that good writing is good business, she helps corporations, government agencies, and non-profits create written information that is easy to understand and use. Her clients include Bank of America, Wells Fargo, J.P. Morgan Chase, TIAA-CREF, Sempra Energy, ADM, and other Fortune 100/500 companies as well as the Center for Disease Control, UNC Charlotte, and the National Foundation for Advanced Health.
Using proven writing and design strategies, training tools, and research results, she helps organizations achieve a number of critical goals including:

Dr. Bosley has given more than 100 presentations to academic, business, government, and non-profit audiences in the U.S., Mexico, England, Spain, Ireland, Germany, and France. She is the author of three books and more than two dozen articles on issues related to clear communication.
She has written for or been interviewed by The Boston Globe, Investment News, HealthLeader Media, Transaction World Magazine, The Wall Street Journal This Weekend radio broadcast, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, The Omaha Herald, The New Jersey Star Ledger, and other media. Currently, she serves on the boards of the Center for Plain Language in Washington, D.C., is the President of the Plain Language International Network, and is a Research Fellow at the Communication Research Institute in Australia.
