Massachusetts-South Africa Technology Fellowship Program
The Massachusetts-South Africa Technology Fellowship Program (MSAT) is made possible by a generous grant from the United States Department of State. It is designed to bring emerging leaders from South Africa to Boston for five weeks of internship in high tech, information technology and life sciences industries. The selected Fellows will be placed in companies within the targeted industries to learn first-hand how issues in their fields are addressed in the United States. While deepening their understanding of American society, the visiting participants also build a broad network made up of both their new American colleagues and the other visiting Fellows.
Bentley University, in close collaboration with South Africa Partners, has been selected to implement the MSAT program in Boston, Massachusetts. The five-week Fellowship will include a one-week orientation program on the campus of Bentley University, three weeks of internship working with a mentor and a peer in a Boston-area business setting, and one week in Washington, D.C., where Fellows attend the Professional Fellows Congress, hosted by the U.S. Department of State. Fellows will travel to the United States in April 2013 or October 2013.
The fellowship will cover all of the Fellows’ travel and living expenses. Each Fellow’s South African employer must be willing to host the Fellow’s U.S. counterpart for a two-week exchange placement in July 2013 or January 2014.
