Bentley Faculty Research Series

Conversations on emerging issues

Welcome to our series of conversations with members of the Bentley University faculty who are engaged in research across a wide spectrum of business and related disciplines. In these videotaped interviews, you will meet scholars who are investigating topics as diverse as business ethics, innovation, bioterrorism and the pros and cons of globalization. They offer insights into the emerging issues of our time and the results of their research endeavors.

Bentley professors pursue a rigorous agenda of scholarship and applied research, focused on, though not limited to, Bentley's four curricular domains: Arts and Sciences, Business and Information Technology, Business Ethics and Social Responsibility and Global Commerce and Culture. For an in-depth look at the full range of research and scholarship at Bentley, please visit the faculty research section of our web site.

Atul Gupta, Robert A. and Julia E. Dorn Professor of Finance at Bentley and Chair of the Finance Department, publishes extensively on issues of corporate finance and executive compensation. Recently, he focused his research on women in the executive suite. He finds that female senior executives––CEOs in particular––are keeping pace with the rapid rise in executive compensation. Unfortunately, the rest of the American workforce is falling dramatically behind. This reality, says Prof. Gupta, is starting to tear at our social fabric.
