Applying to the McCallum Graduate School of Business

During the last semester as an undergraduate student (2nd semester senior — Class Code 8) a Five-Year Graduate Preparatory (GSP) Program Student is required to submit a Five-Year Student's Application for Admission (Application Form) and additional information to the Graduate Admission Office located in LaCava 295.

The Application Form confirms that the Five-Year GSP student is, to the best of his or her knowledge, completing undergraduate degree requirements at the end of the current semester and is planning to either apply to the Graduate School during the semester immediately following undergraduate course completion or is interested in deferring their admission for up to one year. It is at this time that a student must officially declare the graduate program that will be pursued and if that degree will be pursued full or part time.

Application Procedures:

The following chart indicates the documents a Five-Year GSP Student needs to submit if they want to apply to the McCallum Graduate School of Business after completion of their undergraduate degree. An admission decision cannot be made until the Graduate Admission Office has received all of the required documentation.

February 1 Completion of BA/BS degree in May
Also the deadline for Merit Aid Scholarship application
July 1 Completion of BA/BS degree in August and starting a graduate program in September.
October 1 Completion of BA/BS degree in December and starting a graduate program in January.

Please Note:

The Graduate Admission Office needs approximately two to three weeks to process an Application Form for a Five-Year GSP student. A Five-Year GSP student cannot register for graduate courses until their Application Form has been processed and the student has been (conditionally) admitted to a graduate degree program.

The Graduate Admission Office will send an email to a student if there are issues they need to resolve before a decision can be made on the student’s request to enroll in the McCallum Graduate School of Business.

A Five-Year GSP student is admitted conditionally to the McCallum Graduate School because (in most cases) the student has not completed their undergraduate degree – a prerequisite for admission to a master’s program. The condition of the acceptance is that the student maintains the 3.2 cumulative GPA requirement during their final term, and they are formally conferred a Bachelor’s degree by Bentley College.

Please Note:  The Graduate Admission Office will request a final transcript from the Bentley Registrar’s Office for an applicant. The student will receive an e-mail indicating their final status in the Graduate School once it has been determined that the student has completed their undergraduate degree and has maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.

Attention International Students:  A Five-Year GSP student who holds a student visa (i.e. an international student) will be required to submit an International Student Data Form (ISDF) and documentation of financial support once they have been admitted to the McCallum Graduate School. A link to the ISDF will be included with a student’s acceptance packet. The documentation of financial support must meet INS regulations. The Bentley International Services Office (ISO located in the Student Center, room 350) will issue a graduate student visa once the applicant has paid their $250 enrollment deposit to the Graduate Admission Office.

Students seeking a merit-based award to help with the cost of attending the McCallum Graduate School should review the Financial Assistance section of this web site to review merit-aid procedures and deadlines.

It is recommended that a student in need of financial assistance for their fifth year attend a Financing Your Graduate Education Workshop or meet with the Graduate Financial Aid Office during their senior year to learn about need-based aid options available to graduate students. (Please review the Financial Assistance section of this web site before speaking with the Graduate Financial Aid Office.)

A Five-Year GSP student admitted to the McCallum Graduate School is required to pay a (non-refundable) $250 enrollment deposit to secure a place in the incoming class. The enrollment deposit must be received by the Graduate Admission Office and cannot be paid directly to the Student Accounts Office. Applicants must return the Commitment Deposit Form (included with the acceptance letter) and their enrollment deposit to the Graduate Admission Office before they can register for graduate courses.

Please Note: The enrollment deposit is payable via personal check or by a MasterCard, Discover, or Visa credit card. The deposit will be credited to the student’s account and will be applied towards the first semester tuition charges in a graduate degree program.

Once the Graduate Admission Office has received a Five-Year GSP student's completed Commitment Deposit Form and the enrollment deposit, the applicant will…

  • Receive all graduate school mailings.

  • Need to schedule an appointment with their Program Director to plan their graduate course schedule.

  • Familiarize themselves with graduate student registration procedures.

  • Register for classes using BannerWEB along with other graduate applicants accepted for that semester.

Checklist for Transitioning Students

Do you have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2?

Have you completed the on-line “Petition to Graduate” form available through “My Bentley”?

Are there any incomplete grades on your student record?

Do you have unresolved issues regarding the transfer of credits (from another institution) towards your Bentley undergraduate degree?

Are you in good standing with Bentley?

Have you completed an internship either for-credit or not-for-credit (i.e. job)? (Candidates to the Evening MBA, MSF, MSMA or MSIT Program only.)
