City Year Partnership

Make a world of difference...for the world...and yourself

Bentley University and City Year have joined forces to develop a new program
that bridges the worlds of higher education and community service.

The Bentley University — City Year "give a year" partnership is a brand-new program that will enable young people who volunteer for a service year with City Year to enjoy a variety of benefits as Bentley students, including a $20,000 "give a year" scholarship from Bentley, Bentley service-learning credits, and internship opportunities with leading global corporations.

Bentley, a pioneer in business education, will award up to 10 scholarships annually to Bentley National Service Scholars who participate in the program. The actual scholarship award will be applied in the final year of a student’s matriculation at either the undergraduate or graduate level at Bentley.

City Year, the voluntary youth service organization, places 1,650 students each year in volunteer positions within public schools in 18 locations in the United States as well as Johannesburg, South Africa. City Year volunteers receive a monthly stipend and clothing allowance, and are eligible for a $5,350 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, which may be applied to the cost of tuition at Bentley.
