Frequently Asked Questions

What type of job can I expect to get when I graduate from a Master of Science (MS) program?

The type of job you’ll get depends upon the MS program you select at the end of the Business Gateway experience.  Some of the job titles associated with specific MS degrees are:

  • MS in Finance – Financial Analyst
  • MS in Marketing Analytics – Database Marketer
  • MS in Real Estate Management – Property Manager
  • MS in Accounting – Assurance Associate
  • MS in Taxation – Tax Specialist
  • MS in Financial Planning – Financial Planner

Regardless of which MS degree program you choose, you will have the full support of the Miller Center for Career Services to help you with your job search starting the day you enter the Business Gateway Program.

How soon can I get my MS degree?

Most students will be able to complete their MS degree requirements in one calendar year if they continue to study full-time.

What if I get a job at the end of the summer?

No problem.  The courses taken in the Business Gateway Program earn full graduate course credit and can be applied immediately toward a graduate degree.  This gives you the flexibility to decide to continue your studies full-time, part-time or defer to a later date.  Nearly all McCallum graduate courses are offered in the evening so you can work in the day and continue your studies in the evening.

How will I decide which MS degree is right for me?

Career counseling is a strong component of the Business Gateway experience.  We will use career self-assessment tools, career exploration workshops and career brainstorming sessions to help students:

  • Identify their primary interests, abilities and values
  • Validate their selection of a master’s program based on an understanding of various career options
  • Begin their career exploration by developing basic career research and networking skills

How soon must I decide which MS degree is right for me?

You must decide by the end of the Business Gateway experience (Aug 3).

Is  financial aid available?

Students admitted to the Business Gateway Program are eligible for Federal Aid (Stafford loans).  The amount of aid available will cover the $12,500 program fee provided the student has not used Stafford loans during the fall or spring semester immediately preceding the start of the summer semester.  In the event the student has used federal aid for either of the two prior semesters, the amount of their aid is limited to $18,500 less the amount they've already used.

Upon completing the program, the top three students will be awarded full-tuition scholarship for continued graduate study at McCallum.

Where will I live?

The cohort of students admitted to the Business Gateway Program will live on campus, in suites with kitchen, bath, living room, and individual bedrooms. The apartment buildings, which opened in September 2005, also have space for small groups to get together and study or collaborate on course projects.

Can I arrange for my own housing?

The community nature of the program is specifically designed to give students a built-in support structure and a lifetime network of friends and colleagues.  Additionally, much of the coursework requires collaboration outside of the classroom.  For these reasons, it is mandatory that students live on-campus during the summer.

Will I have access to Bentley’s facilities?

Yes, you will have access to the entire campus.  Bentley College has outstanding physical facilities.  Just to name a few, you will have access to the newly renovated library, the newly renovated athletic center, the state-of-the-art Trading Room, the Center for Marketing Technology and various dining halls and cafés throughout campus.  There is also a free daily shuttle to Harvard Square in Cambridge.

How many people are admitted to the program?

Because of the small-scale cohort design of the program, class size will be limited to 25 – 30 students.
