Gary David

Gary David pursues ethnographic studies of workplaces, examining topics such as health care documentation creation, globally distributed work teams, implementation of enterprise systems, and intercultural communication in service encounters.

He has conducted training on how to work collaboratively in globally distributed teams, by building virtual workplace communities. Most recently, he is serving as project coordinator for a study of the medical transcription industry and healthcare documentation production processes. His other areas of interest include evaluating electronic health record systems, examining globally distributed collaborative software development teams, and focusing on the role of information and communication technologies in collaborative work.

The professor also shares his expertise as a reviewer for academic journals across disciplines, including sociology, information systems, intercultural communication, and ethnic studies.
