Who can use The Center for Health and Wellness?
All full-time students can be seen in The Center for Health and Wellness, regardless of what insurance they have. The cost of the visit is covered by tuition.

When is the office open?
For the academic year: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What if I think my problem is an emergency and I can’t wait for the office to open?
Call Campus Police IMMEDIATELY at 781.891.3131. All Campus Police officers are first responders and can help you with emergencies.

What if The Center for Health and Wellness is closed — what would I do?
There are nearby health clinics and emergency rooms — listed on our Health Care Options sheet, on our web site, on our front door and on our voice mail message. Remember —you will need your insurance card and may also need a referral from your family doctor or nurse practitioner. You can always call Campus Police at 781.891.2201 —they are open 24 hours per day/ 7 days per week. They can provide transportation if an officer is available to the local urgent care and walk-in clinics and emergency rooms.

How do I get an appointment at The Center for Health and Wellness?
If you have a non-emergency problem — call our office. If we are not open, leave a detailed message and we will call you back usually by 8:00 a.m., and give you the earliest appointment for that day.

Is it hard to get an appointment?
No — usually students can get appointments for the same day.

Who will see me?
We have a registered nurse, nurse practitioners and part-time physicians. You can usually get an appointment the same day with a nurse or nurse practitioner. You can ask for whatever type of provider you wish to see. You also have a choice of male and female providers.

Do I have to bring money or my insurance card?
Your visit is covered by your tuition however you will need your insurance card for lab tests and prescriptions.

Can I get prescriptions at The Center for Health and Wellness?
We have a prescription delivery service at 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday for those prescriptions written at The Center for Health and Wellness. The prescriptions can be paid via your co-pay.

What if I need to see a specialist or go to an Urgent Care Center?
Specialist care is available off-campus. Your provider in our office will try to get you the earliest possible appointment with a specialist. You will need to use your own insurance to cover the specialist appointment and you will often need to provide a co-payment. In most cases, you will also need to first call your family doctor or nurse practitioner to obtain a referral to go to see a specialist.

If I have a very private problem, will my parents or professors be told?
No. No information is shared with anyone, staff, faculty, family or friends if you are over 18 years of age. Information about your care will only be given to someone with your specific written approval, except as required by law and in cases of danger to yourself or others.

What would I go to The Center for Health and Wellness for?
Any illness or injury, asthma, allergies, co-management of chronic illnesses such as diabetes or cancer with your health care provider, urinary tract infections, contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy tests, tests and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, HIV testing, alcohol or drug concerns, depression, anxiety, eating disorders or issues of nutrition or fitness.

We also provide consultations on health and programs on health topics for any individuals or groups.
