Michael Rich, M.D., M.P.H., is a physician, board-certified in Adolescent /Young Adult Medicine and Pediatrics, who has worked at Bentley Student Health Service since 1996. He received his MD from Harvard Medical School in 1991 and his Master’s of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health in 1997. Dr. Rich sees a wide variety of patients with complaints ranging from asthma to substance use at Bentley. He has taught a class in the course on the Psychology of Men and presented his research to the Bentley community on several occasions. At Children's Hospital in Boston, Dr. Rich is Director of the Center on Media and Child Health (www.cmch.tv), an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to understanding the effects of entertainment media on the physical, mental and social health of children and adolescents. Dr. Rich developed an innovative, media-based research method, Video Intervention/Prevention Assessment (www.viaproject.org), in 1994 and has been using it to conduct patient-centered investigation of the illness experiences of young people who have asthma, obesity, sickle cell disease, spina bifida, cystic fibrosis, and HIV. Living in Brookline, he is a father of three and enjoys scuba diving, hiking, gardening, and his kids.
