RESPONSIBILITIES
Bentley College is seeking a full-time web developer with an interest in content management systems.
- Content Management Systems Development
- Develope the site via content management system (Serana Collage) using: the template language, admin panel, doc types and tool set.
- Levarage the CMS template language to maintain and buld web pages, templates, page elements, landing pages, XML documents, banners, and other content types.
- Explore the content management system's advanced features.
- Content and Application Development
- Develop and maintain web applications using Coldfusion and Oracle.
- Create web pages using CSS, XHTML, Photoshop, and Javascript.
- Consult with internal clients to gather requirements, develop specifications, iterate designs, receive feedback.
- User Experience
- Infuse the site with intelligence via content architecture, information design, interactivity design techniques.
- Implement usability techniques and accessibility best practices.
- Perform QA tasks to find and fix bugs.
- Use Omniture and web analytics tools to evaluate site performance and inform site decisions.
- Team Participation and Collaboration
- Creatively collaborate with web team.
- Partner with other departments to produce and maintain the website, including: Systems, MIS, Data Systems, and others as needed
- Project Management: manage the various aspects of assigned projects, including resources, people, deadlines, and other facets
- Documentation: Create and update documentation during projects
- CMS/People Support
- Provide CMS support and training for other team members, division colleagues and collage staff
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree desired with at least 2–6 years experience in web development/production.
- An advanced working knowledge of ColdFusion, CSS, and XHTML.
- Demonstrated ability in JavaScript, DHTML, Ajax, Oracle, MySQL and Photoshop or other image editing software
- Experience in developing web pages (user interface, text, graphics, forms, usability and accessibility compliance), using standard web languages and authoring tools (without being dependent on them).
- An understanding of information design, interface design, interactivity design, usability, and accessibility.
- Must have excellent creativity, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, research, project management, and written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- An awareness of web design trends and web/tech/media culture
- Flash experience, Linux experience, and graphic design abilities are pluses.
The ideal candidate has experience with Serena's Collage content management system, though we are willing to train the right person with previous experience with another CMS (for example: Interwoven's TeamSite, Hannon Hill's Cascade Server, PaperThin’s CommonSpot, Ektron, Reddot, Joomla, Drupal, Plone, Wordpress, etc.)
