DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Primary responsibility for this position will be to protect campus property by performing patrols of all buildings and grounds owned, leased or controlled by Bentley College.  Perform in-depth investigations of incidents and crime.  Note all discrepancies of a safety or security nature so that corrective action may be taken. Responsibility also includes prevention of crime, maintenance of traffic flow; enforcement of Massachusetts Laws and campus rules and regulations.  Perform duties of service to the college population such as transports, escorts, jump-starts and other motor vehicle assists.  Secure buildings, set alarms and do security checks.  Accomplish additional duties as assigned by the Director of Public Safety. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: A High School diploma with a minimum of two years related experience, (a degree in Criminal Justice is desired and may be substituted for the required experience.) The ability to maintain special police authority in accordance with Chapter 22c, Section 63 of the Massachusetts General Laws. Candidates who do not hold an SSPO or MPTC certificate of graduation will be required to attend the SSPO Academy. A valid Drivers License and the ability to obtain and retain a Class A firearm’s license to carry permit is required. Must obtain and retain a certificate in Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer CPR and First Aid. Candidates should have excellent communications skills, analytical abilities and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization. Appointees must be in good physical and mental condition and must successfully complete physical and psychological examinations as prescribed by the Director of Public Safety, including all training and certification/recertification classes. Must successfully pass a criminal background check.  Knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws essential.  Knowledge of Windows-based applications, ARMS (law enforcement database.) Must be willing to work flexible hours and shifts.
