Summer Grants

Applications for summer grants should be submitted to departmental review committees. Departmennt chairs make recommendations to the dean. The deadline for submission in the department is Friday, January 26, 2007, and department recommendations must be received in the dean's office by Monday February 12, 2007. Decisions will be made by the end of February.

Applications/proposals should be no longer than five pages in length and include a general description of the proposed project/research, a plan of action, an indication of the likely outcomes and benefits to Bentley.

Summer grants are available to all full-time faculty. As was the case last year, the grant shall be for 1/9 of salary (not 9 percent as had been the case previously). Please note that total compensation for the summer (including compensation from RFPs, summer grants, and teaching) cannot exceed 2/9 of base salary.

It is important to note that funding is limited. In the past two years, roughly 40 faculty have been successful in obtaining application-based (as opposed to contractual) summer grants each year. This year's
budget allows for up to $300,000 to be awarded in summer grants.
