Nader Asgary

Nadar Asgary, PhD, an expert in international business, has been named Bentley College’s first associate provost for International Relations and the director of the Cronin International Center. Asgary also holds appointments in the Management and International Studies departments at Bentley.

In his new role at Bentley, Asgary is focused on creating partnerships with highly ranked institutions in strategic regions such as Asia, Europe, South America and Africa.

He joins Bentley from the State University of New York (SUNY), Geneseo where he was director of the Center for International Business (CIB) and a tenured full professor at the School of Business. As the founder and the director of the CIB at SUNY Geneseo, he created an organization that provides resources, guidance, and opportunities for students and faculty to collaboratively prepare for global challenges.

Asgary studied at Texas A & M University, where he received a bachelor of science in Engineering, and then went on to work in the private sector as an entrepreneur where he managed a large number of diversified work forces in the Middle East. He earned a PhD and master's degree in Economics from the University of Houston. He is bilingual (English and Farsi/Persian/Urdo/Dary), and has traveled extensively to many regions including Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and South America.

His major fields of interest and research include International Business, Economics of Development and Growth, and Applied Economics. He has published in numerous well-known national and international journals such as Economic Inquiry and Journal of Business Ethics and participated in numerous conference presentations around the world such as ASSA, WEA, as well as speaking and reviewing for several high-profile journals.
