Bentley College Sophomore Makes a Bid for President of Red Sox Nation
October 1, 2007
Bentley College sophomore Cheryl Boyd of Holliston wants to be president: of Red Sox Nation, that is. Boyd recently was named one of the top 10 candidates for "the Nation's" presidency.
As one of the top 10, Boyd recently participated in a ‘presidential debate' moderated by NBC's Tim Russert and New England Sports Network's Tina Cervasio, and now has to wait to see if voting fans place her in the top three list of candidates. Tomorrow is the last day to vote for your favorite candidate.
In an interview with her hometown newspaper, Boyd told a reporter that the president of Red Sox Nation shouldn't be a celebrity or former Red Sox player but a "true fan." She is up against the likes of TV/radio personality Mike Barnicle; NESN analyst Jerry Remy; former Red Sox slugger Sam Horn; and journalist Peter Gammons.
Fans can vote for the president of Red Sox Nation until 5 p.m. tomorrow, October 2, at: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/bos/fan_forum/rsn/president_ballot_form.jsp.
