Bentley Moot Court Team places Ninth in National Tournament January 18

On Friday, January 18, Bentley College placed ninth out of 64 colleges in the American Collegiate Moot Court Association (AMCA) National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. The team consisted of Bentley students Isaac D'Alessandro and Amanda Mongel, under the direction of Franklyn P. Salimbene, director of the Bentley Service-Learning Center. Bentley was one of only 16 Eastern Regional teams to advance to the national competition.
The competition requires student teams to simulate legal argumentation before hypothetical appellate courts. Questions involved gun possession in a "home school" and the Gun Free School Zone Act of 1997. Bentley competed against schools that included Holy Cross, Arkansas State University, California State University Long Beach, Drake University, Holy Cross, University of Louisville, University of North Carolina, University of San Diego, Texas A&M, Texas Wesleyan, and Youngstown State University.
