A team of six Bentley juniors and seniors were awarded first place and a $1,500 cash prize in the sixth annual Travelers Finance Case Competition held on October 12 in Hartford, Conn. This is the third year that a Bentley team has won the competition. Under the guidance of finance professor and faculty advisor Otgontsetseg Erhemjamts, the winning Bentley team included seniors Cody Clearwater, Tyler Heishman and Scott Tindall; and juniors Victoria Khiter, Eric Wald and Cory Wusterbarth. They competed against schools such as Babson College, the University of Minnesota, University of Connecticut, and University of Hartford.
At the competition, students were given an insurance company case study to deliberate and present recommendations to a panel of four judges consisting of Travelers executives. The team requirements were that each member have at least a 3.22 GPA, and finance or accounting as a major.
Travelers is a Fortune 100 company and one of the largest providers of property and casualty insurance products in the United States. The annual program was hosted by the Financial Management Leadership Development Program (FMLDP) at Travelers, which offers full-time hires three, one-year rotational positions in finance and accounting.
