Mathematical Sciences Professor David Carhart Receives Award for Distinguished Teaching

David Carhart, Wilder Teaching Professor of Mathematical Sciences, is the recipient of the 2008 Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching, presented by the Northeastern Section of the Mathematical Association of America (NES/MAA). The award will be presented at the NES/MAA Spring Section meeting held May 30-31 at St. Michael's College in Vermont. Carhart was also invited to present at the association's Fall Section meeting to be held in November at Bentley. According to the MAA, the distinguished teaching award is made to a teacher of mathematics who has been widely recognized as extraordinarily successful, with teaching effectiveness documented beyond their own classroom.
