November 26, 2008
Mary Culnan, Slade Professor of Management and IT, was appointed to the advisory board of a new Washington DC-based think tank, the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF), which launched on November 19, 2008. Led by privacy experts Jules Polonetsky, former AOL chief privacy officer and Christopher Wolf, chair of the Privacy and Data Security Practice Group at Proskauer Rose LLP, the Future Privacy Forum has a mission to provide thought leadership on the Internet privacy discussion, to educate consumers and to bring transparency to online data practices.
Observes Culnan of the initiative: "Our activities will be at the intersection of Bentley's strategic priorities: information and communication technologies, and corporate social responsibility."
The advisory board is comprised of leading figures from industry, academia, law and advocacy groups. Culnan is the only business school professor on the board, which also includes senior executives from AT&T, GE, MetLife, Microsoft, Intel, Facebook, Wal-Mart and IBM. The appointment represents her third advisory board appointment during her tenure at Bentley. Currently, she also serves on the U.S. Government Accountability Office's Executive Committee on Information Management and Technology, and the Massachusetts ACLU's Science and Technology Advisory Committee.
