The National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) honored Bentley University academic adviser Henrietta Genfi, with 2010 Academic Excellence Advising Award for Region 1 (Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and the eastern provinces of Canada.) An academic adviser in the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center, Genfi received the award at the regional conference March 10 to 12 in Newton, Massachusetts.

Bentley students rallied for the 2010 Blackout Challenge to reduce electricity usage in residence halls during four weeks in February - saving enough electricity to power 5.3 homes for one year. The top three residence halls - Cape, Castle and Stratton - each produced a 9.4 percent change in electricity use.

The 13th annual Bentley Business Bowl drew 270 students to participate in the business case competition on February 27. Bentley alumni were among the representatives from 76 companies and agencies who joined Bentley faculty and administrators to judge student presentations that analyzed and solved business cases centered on ethics issues.

On March 25, Bentley will host La Quinzaine de la Francophonie, a celebration of Francophone culture. Samba Gadjigo, professor of French at Mount Holyoke College, will present "Ousmane Sembene: Man as Culture," a discussion about the life and work of famous Senegalese filmmaker, Ousmane Sembene. A film screening of Sembene's acclaimed Senegalese film, Xala, will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The American College Heath Association (ACHA) recently named Geraldine (Gerri) Taylor as recipient of the E. Dean Lovett Award for 2010 for her contributions to the development of an exemplary college health program. This award will be presented at ACHA's 2010 Annual Meeting on June 4, 2010, in Philadelphia.

  Fifteen Bentley students were honored with the Travelers Book Award, each receiving a $500 gift from the Travelers Financial Management Leadership Development Program (FMLDP). The awards were presented on February 8 at the Multicultural Center's Lunch and Learn series, where representatives from Travelers discussed job and internship opportunities for students.

Adam Payne, assistant director of the Multicultural Center and ALANA Experience coordinator, was invited to speak at the MIDEM Music Conference in Cannes, France, on January 25. An accomplished musician, Payne spoke on a panel about how brands are partnering with independent musicians and achieving success through viral marketing and other means.

After passing an online test registration and subsequently achieving success during an in-person group audition held in Boston, MA in spring 2009, Bentley Research Librarian Elizabeth Galoozis was chosen to appear as a contestant on the popular TV quiz show, Jeopardy. The episode was filmed in December 2009 and will air on February 17, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. on CBS affiliates across the country. To see the show aired locally in the greater Boston area, tune in to WBZ-TV, channel 4.
