Bentley College Launches Revamped Graduate Business Program, "Bentley Portfolio 360"

January 31, 2007

The McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley today announced the launch of "Bentley Portfolio 360," a newly revamped portfolio of graduate programs available in fall 2007. The new program is designed for students interested in a comprehensive graduate business curriculum that offers flexibility to fit varying schedules, is streamlined to build on personal background, and easily customized to meet the demands of each student's career goals.

The key differentiators for Bentley's MBA and eight Master of Science (MS) offerings are the high degree of flexibility and customization, hybrid delivery options (offering both in-class and online participation), and a structure that allows students to build on their prior academic experience. In some cases, qualified students will be able to earn an MBA with only 12 courses, and an MS with only 10. Qualified students may also be able to complete dual MBA and MS degrees in fewer than 24 months

"In recent years, we've seen the demographics of prospective graduate students expand - we are attracting new graduates, working professionals and career changers who have varying priorities. We need to be able to offer these students more options, while still delivering the breadth of programs and depth of knowledge that are the hallmarks of the McCallum curriculum," says Margrethe H. Olson, Dean of Business and the McCallum Graduate School. "Bentley's expertise at the intersection of business and technology can be shared in a variety of ways - ways that work for the busy professional, as well as the full-time student. And we need to help those with a strong business background grow further, while providing business fundamentals to those who bring other expertise with them."

The Bentley MBA and eight Master of Science (MS) programs integrate business, technology, ethics and global understanding, focused through experiential learning -- allowing students to be fluent in the principles and practices that drive corporate decision-making today. Known for offering one of the largest selections of graduate business courses in the northeast, McCallum's new Bentley Portfolio 360 now offers working professionals an even more powerful combination of advantages.

Flexible--Students can customize their Portfolio 360 program around their career goals and academic background, choosing from more than 190 courses, in all business disciplines. MBA students can select two different concentrations from a menu of 17 choices, newly expanded to reflect emerging areas of business. Students may also take advantage of the dual-degree option where they can combine the breadth of an MBA with the depth of a specialized MS degree, by taking only six additional courses. Few programs in the country have this kind of built-in opportunity for pursuing a second degree.

Personal--Portfolio 360 accommodates personal lifestyle. Courses are taught primarily in the evening, so students can learn while working full time or managing a busy schedule. Many courses are offered both on campus and online. Students can attend class at Bentley or log on to the Web from their home or office -- or mix and match the two options as their schedule demands. Three MS programs offer all courses online: Real Estate Management, Taxation and Financial Planning.

Powerful--Portfolio 360 programs build on each student's unique academic background. If one has a qualifying business degree from an accredited institution, course requirements will be reduced in most Portfolio 360 programs. If the student's background is not in business, the Program Foundation course sequence provides solid business fundamentals. Regardless of their background, all students benefit from the array of high-tech learning resources at Bentley that offer hands-on experience with the most advanced software and hardware used in business today.

The faculty that teaches in the Bentley MBA and MS programs bring valuable corporate experience and business-related research to the classroom.
