Bentley Hosts Tenth Annual Internal Revenue Service Town Meeting

WALTHAM, Mass. - Bentley's Department of Financial Planning and Taxation will host the Tenth Annual Internal Revenue Service Town Meeting on Monday, October 20, 2003. The all-day event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Wilder Pavilion at the Adamian Academic Center.

Terrence Lutes, director, IRS Electronic Tax Administration will be the special guest keynote speaker and Ellen Murphy, area director, IRS Taxpayer Education and Communication, New England and New York will be the guest luncheon speaker. Bentley professorsJohn Lynch, Brigitte Muehlmann, Joseph Newpol, and William Wiggins will be chairing panels dealing with the following topics:

  • Using Tax Experts
  • Collection Appeals Process and Practice
  • The Pursuit of Abusive Tax Avoidance Transactions
  • New Directions in IRS Criminal Investigation

IRS representatives will participate on each panel and will discuss new developments and answer practitioner questions. The event is open to the public and participants can earn eight CPE credit hours by attending. The registration fee of $125 includes handout materials, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments.
