Bentley Hosts Wall Street 101 Summer Camp This Week

July 27, 2003

WALTHAM, Mass. - This week, Bentley College hosts Wall Street 101, a summer business camp for high school students. Forty-five campers from 12 states and two countries will learn about private enterprise, starting a business and the ins-and-outs of Wall Street.

In its fourth year, the interest is still overwhelming, as Bentley received over 120 applications for the camp. Wall Street 101 includes total immersion at Bentley. Students get a taste of college life by living on campus. They dine in the cafeteria, use the athletic center, and join in social events such as barbecues, pool parties, movie nights, and field trips into Boston.

Sponsored by Nasdaq, Wall Street 101 offers students a fun and interactive opportunity to learn about investments, risk management, and ethics in finance. Students will learn more about the financial industry and other business fields by using Bentley's state-of-the-art Trading Room - one of a few such facilities in the country - and other technological resources. Participants explore the stock market, conduct simulated trading sessions, and discover the process of investment through classroom and hands-on exercises. They also visit Boston's financial district to learn more about evaluating business and such key financial venues as the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Boston Stock Exchange.

The Nasdaq Educational Foundation, sponsors of Wall Street 101, continues in its long-standing partnership with Bentley. "The integration of technology and real-world perspectives is something that sets up apart from other camps across the country," said Bentley Assistant Professor of Finance Patrick Gregory, academic director of Wall Street 101.
