Bentley Management Professor Hans Thamhain Earns Top Achievement Award from the Project Management Institute

The Project Management Institute (PMI) has awarded Bentley College management professor Hans Thamhain the 2006 PMI Research Achievement Award in conjunction with the biannual PMI Research Conference 2006, held this summer in Montreal, Canada.

The award recognizes individuals who have advanced the concepts, knowledge and practices of project management through professionally-conducted and authored project management research. In particular, the institute noted Thamhain's research in the areas of conflict management and power bases in project management; team leadership in high-technology project environments; organizational processes and project management support systems; and multinational and global project management.

"Project management is my primary professional focus and interest," says Thamhain. "It has driven my activities as a teacher, researcher and practitioner, so it is a great honor to be chosen from the global community of project management experts as the researcher who has contributed most significantly to the advancement of this field."


Thamhain's expertise includes 20 years of management positions with high-technology companies, including GTE/Verizon, General Electric and ITT. He holds an MBA in management and information technology and Ph.D. in business administration, both from Syracuse University, and was a Fulbright Senior Scholar.
