May 15, 2005
Waltham, MA - Dr. Joseph G. Morone, who in July will celebrate eight years as President of Bentley College, will leave the institution at the end of the summer to assume the role of President of Albany International Corp., a billion dollar publicly traded company.
Elkin McCallum, Chairman of the Board at Bentley stated, "Joe is extremely well regarded by students, faculty and staff - he will be greatly missed. He has spearheaded many significant achievements during his eight years as president. He guided growth in academic rigor, physical plant expansion, technological advancement, and strategic corporate partnerships."
He continues, "We are in the best possible position we could be to undergo a transition. The leadership team of the college is strong. And we're confident that the many initiatives currently underway will be successfully implemented during this transition. Our goal is to work closely and quickly with the Bentley community to identify a successor who can extend the mission of the institution. We wish Joe every success in his new venture; he has been a visionary leader for Bentley."
The Board of Trustees have met and selected a Steering Committee to guide the transition. Early next week the search process will be outlined to include the formation of a Search Committee, the selection of an executive search consultant, and the development of a timeline to complete the process. The Search Committee will be comprised of members of the Board, members of the Cabinet, key administrative personnel, and representation from faculty and students. The Chairman of the Board will chair the search committee.
