June 30, 2004

WALTHAM, Mass.- Dr. James E. Hunton, Trustee Professor of Accountancy at Bentley, was recently selected for a Fulbright Senior Specialists grant in Business Administration at the Alexandria University, Egypt.

Joining the ranks of distinguished scholars and professionals worldwide who are leaders in the educational, political, economic, social and cultural lives of their countries, Dr. Hunton will spend the fall semester in Egypt. During his stay Dr. Hunton will help the College of Business develop a strategy for integrating information technology throughout the business curriculum. He will also assist Ph.D. students and faculty at Alexandria in refining their quantitative research skills. This respected international academic exchange program, founded in 1946 by the U.S. Government, is comprised of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB), the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State (ECA), and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).

"I am very honored to have been selected," said Dr. Hunton of the appointment. "I was thrilled when I found out that I made the candidate list, as my understanding is that this is indeed a difficult hurdle to overcome. I was later informed by Fulbright that Alexandria University requested a scholar with my background, and the evaluation boards had determined that I was the best 'fit'."

A certified public accountant, Dr. Hunton has taught at Bentley since 2002. He was the charter editor of Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research. He was twice honored with the Notable Contribution to Information Systems Literature award of the American Accounting Association and, in 2002-2003, served as president of the group's Information Systems section. A graduate of West Texas State University, Rivier College, and University of Texas at Arlington, Dr. Hunton and his wife, Betty, reside in Nashua, NH. Their daughter, Christy, attends the University of South Florida.
