Director of Public Safety Ernest H. Leffler Elected Regional Director of International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators

WALTHAM, Mass. - Ernest H. Leffler, director of public safety at Bentley College, was elected as the North Atlantic regional director for the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) last month.
IACLEA is a professional organization comprised of over 1,600 members whose mission is to further the professionalism of campus law enforcement. As regional director, Leffler will serve a three-year term on the board of directors representing campus law enforcement agencies from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
"I'm excited. This is an active position," said Leffler of his appointment. "I'll be able to use my experience on the board and bring it back to Bentley to help improve campus safety and law enforcement here."
Leffler has been a member of IACLEA for nearly 17 years, and also serves as treasurer for the Massachusetts Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (MACLEA). Leffler has been director of public safety at Bentley since 1998. Prior to that, he was associate director of public safety at Northeastern University, his alma mater. A native of Everett, MA, Leffler resides in Wakefield, MA with his wife Karen, and two sons, Evan and Andrew.
Leffler heads the Bentley College Police Department, a full-service law enforcement agency providing services and programs to the Bentley community. On duty 24 hours a day, the department has 33 members with 24 full-time sworn police officers. Campus Police officers are commissioned in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 22c, Section 63 of Massachusetts General Laws.
The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators advances public safety for educational institutions by providing educational resources, advocacy and professional development. IACLEA membership represents over 1,000 colleges and universities located in the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and elsewhere.
