Fairy Tale Paintings on Display in Art Gallery

December 15, 2002

WALTHAM, Mass. - Bentley College presents "Paintings from the Fairy Tale Series," an exhibit by Tamar Vishlitzky in the Art Gallery now through January 23, 2003.

"The patterns found on fabrics and wallpapers represent aesthetic norms. Reprocessed in the paintings, these patterns gain center stage, changing meaning and function. My interest in the theme of fairy tales grew out of the exploration of the domestic messages imbedded in these patterns," writes Vishlitzky in her artist's statement.

Tamar Vishlitzky earned a BFA at Massachusetts College of Art and an MFA from Colorado University. She has been teaching drawing at UMass Boston and will teach two sections of the Making Drawings class at Bentley next semester.
